Volvo drivers love the remote control capabilities of their key fob. They can lock and unlock their vehicle and start the engine, and even locate it via the smartphone app.

Put the key fob face up on an uncluttered surface. Find the button that opens it, place an object between the fob and the cover and then pull it up with care.

Unlocking the Doors

Volvo's remote key fobs can unlock the tailgate, doors, and the fuel filler flap of your vehicle with a press of a button. They also can switch on the ignition, set the alarm, and operate your sunroof when it's installed. With these features, you'll never have to look for your keys again or get locked out of your car.

You may not be aware of certain key fob features that are hidden. You can use the lock/unlock option manually if your key fob battery goes out.

Place your key fob on the table with the volvo xc60 key logo in the front to unlock or lock the manual lock. Find the black button which is on the outside of the key fob body and gently press it to open a cover which conceals the manual key blade. The cover can be flipped counterclockwise using a flathead or coin.

Beginning the Engine

Remove the cover on the back of the key fob using your fingernail. A button should be placed underneath the cover on an angle, close to the body's edge. Slide it down and then to the right. The cover will then fall loose and slide off and reveal the manual key blade! If you are unable to locate the button, search the now-uncovered manual key access to find an undiscovered lever or slot.

Closing the Windows

One of the nefarious features that is not visible on Volvo key fobs is that you are able to roll down all of the windows immediately by using them. This is great when you're trying to squeeze into a cramped parking spot, or even simply when you want to get some fresh air in your cabin while driving.

To unlock the windows you need to press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower the windows and the sunroof, should you have one. When you're done with your vehicle, you can close all windows by pressing the lock key again for four seconds.

You can also set off the panic alarm in your car key volvo using the key fob. This will emit a loud, attention-grabbing blare that could frighten away thieves and help you get home at a safe distance after a night out. This feature is great if you reside in a hazardous area or you want to ensure the safety of your family when you are away from home.

The opening of the Tailgate

Volvo has loaded its key fob with a variety of useful features. They are perfect when you're slammed with groceries or helping kids to pack their sports gear after practice.

For instance, if you have the available Hands-Free Power Liftgate with logo projection and programmable height (if equipped) it is possible to open it by using the key fob. You can open the liftgate by pressing the button and then close it using the same button.

Turning off the Alarm

Find a clean surface and lay out your key fob, battery, and any other keys. Find the small black button located at the bottom left corner of the key fob and move it to the right. The cover will fall off and reveal the key blade's mechanical structure underneath.
