Seats

If you're looking for a lightweight alternative that's ideal for city streets, check out the Joie Evalite Duo. It's easy to move and has a large basket with lots of storage. It can be used for twins beginning at birth and will accept two car seats, or a carrycot that has a seat. The seats must be facing toward the forward direction and there isn't space for bags of groceries under the seat. You will need a sidepack.

If you're looking to take off-road trips then the Mountain Buggy Duet is a great choice. It's a side by tandem with the most compact footprint of any double buggy available. This makes it easier to squeeze through doors that are narrow and on public transport and enables you to climb up and down kerbs without much trouble. It also has a handbrake that is attached to the handlebar that can be adjusted for more security and safety.

The UPPAbaby vista 2 double is another lightweight option that is suitable for twins or a baby and toddler. The seats can be reclining in multiple positions with UPF 50plus sunshades. The canopy can be adjusted to ensure that the sun does not touch your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can even be transformed into a triple using the addition of UPPAbaby's "PiggyBack board for older and mobile kids.

The iCandy Orange double buggies are among the most well-known available. This is due to their superb comfort. It's a true all-terrain pushchair with a soft suspension, which is able to handle bumpy surfaces. It can accommodate up to 30 seating configurations, and includes a built-in ride-on board for older kids who prefer to walk, and a 'cinema seating' mode which raises the back seat to allow for better visibility.

Alternatively, the phil&teds dot is a brilliant single buggy from the beginning that is able to easily be adapted to take 2 (or 3 wheeled buggy!) Multiple configurations are possible. This is especially useful if you have an infant in a car seat, because the frame can be fitted with a wedgie that allows for optimal lying flat, or car seat adapters to a wider range of brands.

Suspension

The quality of the suspension on a triple buggy is crucial to how it will be easy for you and your baby to push. It is crucial to have a smooth ride, since babies feel every bump on the road. This is particularly the case if you're driving on rough terrain, such as grass or unpaved roads. Certain models come with front tires that lock to aid in maneuvering and navigating obstacles like curbs.

Folding

A 3 wheel double buggy folds pretty neatly to store it. There are models that fold flat and stand up (as when they were in a pushchair) as well as those that pop open to reveal more of an umbrella-style fold, with the option of a brake operated by hand. The more wheels a buggy has, generally the more easy it will be to maneuver over rough terrain. This is especially true if the wheels are larger than the typical size. You will have more stability and it's less likely that you will be forced to flip or tip your child.

The most popular model is the iCandy Wave, which can be used as early as birth with an infant car seat. It transforms into a side-by-side double buggy once your child is old enough for them to sit beside each other. It is a lightweight option that is simple to push. It also comes with a bumper bar as well as raincover.

The phil&teds sports is another option. It is future-proof since it is brilliant as a buggy that can be altered to accommodate two (or three!) All of this fits into its small footprint. Storage

One thing that many people appreciate about a good 3 wheel pushchair travel system wheel double buggy is its storage capabilities. Some models, like the Roma Atlas, have a large basket and two zip pockets on the hood where you can keep your keys and phone. It's also designed to be able to handle a little rough terrain which makes it a great option for family walks or all-terrain walks.

Other models, like the UPPAbaby Vista 2, offer plenty of space and the possibility of transporting twins or a child and a toddler. (This is made possible by their 'PiggyBack' board). It's the most compact side-by-side double available and comes with some impressive technology that includes games-changing LED lights on each side of the buggy frame to improve safety in low light conditions.

If you're looking for something different you can choose the Joie Evalite Duo is a lightweight buggy that can seat twins from birth (it's world-facing and has a lie flat position). The frame's clever design expands to accommodate an extra seat, but still weighs just 11kg. This makes it simple to lift and maneuver. It can be used with the car seat, a carrycot or both. This allows you to have the best of both worlds.
