Combo is the first mop by iRobot and vacuum robot. It's also the most attractive. The polished aluminum top and iRobot Logo are more sophisticated than the loud designs of rivals.

You can use the iRobot Home app to set up and guide your robot. The app gathers data on usage and maps of your home including furniture and obstructions. Maps and image information are only shared when you have signed up.

It's not a mop

It can do a great amount of work in just 111 minutes, before it runs out of power and returns to its base station to recharge.

iRobot’s dedicated Braava jet M6 mopping robot cleaner, often available as a bundle with the J7 Plus for less than the combo Combo is a better job in this and other tasks that are difficult. It can even suck up spilled wine and ketchup but I'd suggest using it in the presence of liquid with a significant sugar content.

It's an air vacuum

It's also among the more attractive robot vacuums with a smooth, rounded top that doesn't show dust and fingerprints as easily as competitors. The tiny water tank and dustbin are easy to close and open, although they're not the most efficient in terms of capacity. The Combo J7+ comes with all the features you'd expect from iRobot. This includes maps and obstacle avoidance maps that operate efficiently and quickly. The mopping arm is the thing that makes this model stand out in its category. It keeps the mop pad tucked in the top of the vacuum, but if it spots the need to mop a surface it lowers the pad underneath and behind the robot. This is a major improvement over other robot vacuums, which require you to remove mop pads from carpets or hard floors manually. It is possible to turn off the entire unit to mop.

It's an electric charging station.

When you're ready to charge your Combo Irobot, simply place it on the charging station and align its metal contacts with those on the base. The charging station is easy to set up and operates well. In my tests, it took the robot just a few minutes to charge before it would make noise when finished. After the Combo robot is charged, you can begin an exploration run in the app to help the robot understand your home. You can also mark certain items, such as lamp cords, as permanent avoidances in the app. You can also connect your robot to Alexa or Google Assistant, so you can use voice commands to direct it around the home.

It's a smart device

Combo irobots use acoustic and onboard sensors to learn about the kind of floor it's stepping on and the objects in your home. This information is paired with images taken by the robot's onboard camera as well as maps of your home, to create an individual plan to clean every room. It's intelligent enough to avoid your lamp cords, couches, and other objects that you would like to keep. As with all connected devices, there are concerns about the security of these data. However, iRobot affirms that it will never sell customer information and the images are not taken without customers' consent.
