After a series of social media posts that hint at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally announced its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. Dubbed Space Key and created in collaboration with an unidentified artist, it is based on a piece of advanced carbon fiber composite material that was delivered to the International Space Station for research purposes.

Five Space Keys have been produced.

Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that takes place at different times when the lamborghini smart key Ultimae takes off towards the stars. Each of the five images was taken by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.

Oefner employed an inflatable camera that had lenses to capture the individual images, which were later assembled into the final photograph. The result is an image that is completely out of the world. It captures the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyperrealistic image of a car rising away from the Earth. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned off in the near future, but there is no specific date or place yet.

Each NFT will be sold separately and the winner will be awarded an artwork created by renowned photographer Fabian Oefner that captures five different moments the Space Key experienced during its flight through space.
