3 Wheel Double Buggy

A great choice for parents who wish to go off-road the Fox 5 is a true all-terrain baby stroller. It has impressive suspension and large, puncture-proof wheels.

Our tester Claire was impressed by the neat, easy-to-open packaging and found it to be one of the quickest and easiest pieces of baby equipment to put together. She took it for a spin around some tough terrain and was thrilled with its performance.

Seats

Most 3 wheel double buggies begin life as single pushchairs, although some can convert to take a second seat or carrycot using adapters (these are typically more common in tandem buggies). You'll also see that some models allow you to add a ride-on board to older children who would like to walk but still need some help.

For a lightweight option that's great for urban streets, look into the Joie Evalite Duo. It's easy to move and comes with a deep basket that has plenty of storage space. It can be used for twins beginning at birth and can accommodate two car seats or a carrycot with seat. However, the seats need to face forwards and there's not enough space for a shopping bag under, so you'll need a sidepack to do that.

Mountain Buggy Duet will be the best choice If you like off-road driving. It's a side-byside model with the smallest footprint of any double buggy available on the market. It's easier to maneuver through narrow doors, on public transport and to climb over and over kerbs. The adjustable handlebar has an additional handbrake for security and safety.

Another lightweight choice is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 Double it can be used for twins or a baby and toddler. The seats are multi-positional reclining with UPF 50plus sunshades. The canopy can be adjusted so that the sun does not touch your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can be converted into an UPPAbaby triple by incorporating UPPAbaby's 'PiggyBack’ board for older children.

The iCandy Orange is one of the most popular double buggies available because of its exceptional comfort. It's an all-terrain model with a soft suspension that is able to handle bumpy surfaces. It can accommodate a massive 30 seating configurations, and comes with a built-in ride-on for older kids who prefer to walk, as well as a 'cinema' seating mode that raises the back of the seat to allow for better visibility.

The phil&teds dots are great single buggys that can be easily adapted to take two (or three!) different configurations. This is particularly useful for parents who have children in your car. Suspension

The suspension of a triple wheeled buggy will determine the ease with which your child/children and you can push it. Certain models also have locking front wheels to assist in maneuvering and navigating obstacles such as curbs.

Some models use air-filled tyres, which provide a fantastic all-terrain ride, but can be prone to punctures, therefore, make sure you have spares in the trunk. Certain models come with foam or gel-filled tyres that are designed to absorb bumps. They are less likely to puncture, however they might cause discomfort for your child if you choose to jog.

MFM reviewer Kath put the Urban Glide 2 through its tests with her newborn and 3 years old, and found that it was able to handle difficult terrains: "it navigated effortlessly over grass and bumpy pavements dirt tracks, cobbles and cobbles with ease and was easy to maneuver around corners and get up and down kerbs. The 16" rear wheels, when combined with the lockable swivel wheel on the front, create an extremely comfortable jogging experience. Folding

A 3-wheel double buggy can fold quite easily to store it. It's a lightweight option that is easy to push. It also comes with a bumper bar and rain cover.

The phil&teds sports is a different option. It is a future-proof model as it's an excellent buggy and can be adapted to accommodate two (or three!) within its compact footprint. It features a clever 3-wheel design with an sling seat that provides better maneuverability, stability, and the ability to pop the kerb.

This is one of the most comfortable double buggies to run with your kids. It features a lockable front wheel which will help you maintain control over hills or off-road terrain. It comes with a huge undercarriage, a movable handlebar, and soft suspension for a comfortable ride.

It's a light and compact model that can be folded in one hand and is ideal for travel. It's compatible with a wide variety of infant car seats and has an undercarriage basket that can be pulled out that can be used to stash shopping. It's not cheap however, it does have certain notable features, like its one-click HOMCOM Folding Baby Stroller in Vibrant Red and many extras, including bumper bars or raincovers.

Stores

Many people are amazed by the storage capacity of a triple-wheeled buggy. Some models, such as the Roma Atlas, have a large basket and two zip pockets on the hood where you can store your keys and phone. It's also designed to cope with slightly rough terrain making it a great choice for family walks or all-terrain strolls.

Other models like the UPPAbaby Vista 2 offer plenty of space and the flexibility to carry twins or a toddler and a baby (it utilizes their 'PiggyBack' board to enable this). It's the slimmest side-by-side double on the market and comes with some impressive technology, including games-changing LED lights on each side of the frame to improve safety in low light conditions.

The Joie Evalite Duo, a stroller that is light enough to accommodate twins from birth, Pushchairsandprams and is world-facing with a lie-flat position It's something completely different. The frame's clever design expands widthways to accommodate a second seat, yet it weighs around 11kg, making it easy to lift and maneuver. It can be used with the car seat, a carrycot, or both. This lets you get the best of all worlds.
