iRobot Roomba combo adapts to your habits for cleaning and recommends programs that will work for you. Smart mapping, automatic scheduling, and Clean While I'm Away are some of the carefully selected iRobot OS features.

The iRobot app lets you review images of objects that the Combo J7+ takes to determine which areas it should stay clear of (lamp cords, for example). You can also alter the map by drawing specific zones the robot must stay away from.

Vacuuming

The Combo Essential features a powerful 4-Stage Cleaner that vacuums and mops in a single step. This machine can reach areas that are difficult to reach, like under the couch. It utilizes smart navigation to ensure wall-to-wall cleaning, and to avoid falling on stairs. Sensors help navigate through furniture. Clean Base Auto-Fill Docks empty debris for up 60 days, and refills the liquid for autonomous cleaning. Additionally, it's compatible with more cleaning products than any other 2-in-1.

The Roomba combo is a powerful mopper, but it is missing some of the more sophisticated features that make the Roomba J7+ an impressive sweeper and mover. If it detects a moist surface, it switches from its sweeping mode to mopping mode. A small robot arm lifts the little combination water tank and dustbin, and when you press a button on the side of the cleaner it slides a new pad in and is ready to go.

Its navigation was on par with the top iRobot robots that I've tested and it made decent progress even when the path was not entirely clear. It's not the best at avoiding obstacles but it's easy to spot and avoid larger objects such as socks and toys.

The app allows you to alter your schedule. You can create a specific cleaning path and create Keep Out Zones (or Clean Zones) that will direct the robot in the right direction. It also shows an overview of its actions and its health status. You can even pair it with your Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant-enabled devices to provide voice control. iRobot's smart platform also automatically updates Combo's software and incorporates new features and capabilities in real-time.

Mopping

Object Detection

iRobot combination robots automatically detect and avoid objects like tables, stairs, sofas chairs, laundry hampers, pet toys and other household clutter. They also make use of sensors to detect carpets and rugs. They then adjust their cleaning settings in response to the recognition, assisting to avoid wet messes. They have an automatic sensor that informs them when to stop cleaning and to resurface.

Navigation

The Roomba Combo uses Imprint Smart Mapping technology to learn and map your floorplan, and re-maps it as needed. Once a room is mapped, you can set cleaning preferences for that particular area using the iRobot Home App and it will then automatically clean that area during subsequent missions. Roomba provides Dirt Detective which automatically prioritizes your dirtiest areas for the most frequent vacuuming or mopping. PrecisionVision Navigation lets it keep away from objects like charging cables or shoes, as well as socks. This feature can help you save time when you're trying to accomplish the task.

Battery Life

The Combo J7+ is powered by a high-performance lithium-ion battery with plenty of capacities for cleaning your home. The robot's water tank and dust bins can hold 400 and 200 ml, respectively.
