After a series of social media posts hinting at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally announced its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. Space Key is a project that was created in collaboration with a non-disclosed artist and based on the latest carbon fiber composite materials that were sent to the International Space Station as research material, is a project that has been revealed by Lamborghini.

The unique NFT is a physical object that connects to exclusive digital artwork, accessible via an QR code on the back. The project is limited to five pieces and will be auctioned in the coming weeks.

The Space Key is made of carbon composite material that Lamborghini, as part a research project in 2019 was sent to the International Space Station. When it returned to earth the carbon fiber was then sculpted into this distinctive artwork. The physical element is equipped with an NFT serial code that links to the digital artwork via QR code on the back.

NFTs for those who are not familiar they are unique identifiers that are stored on an open ledger on the blockchain and connected to digital assets, such as a photo video, song, or other recording. This allows owners to verify the authenticity, scarcity, and the trackability of their tokens through the internet.

Working with NFT PRO, a white-label NFT solution for businesses, Lamborghini has taken this unique approach to art to a new level. In the coming weeks, Lamborghini will release details about the exciting project. This includes the name of the artists who are unknown as well as a timeline for auction.

The digital artwork

After weeks of social media posts that hinted at it, luxury automobile maker Lamborghini finally announced its first project involving tokens that are non-fungible (NFT). The Space Petron key to Lamborghini is a collection of five physical objects that unlocks a unique digital artwork by an unknown artist. The project was developed in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm) the collector's piece is limited to just five units and will be auctioned off soon.

Each Space Key contains a block composed of a carbon-fire composite material. It was shipped to the International Space Station as part of a research project for 2019. After returning to Earth it was stamped with an QR code that connects it to the digital component of the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys will feature a separate moment that occurs a few seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. Each of the five images was taken by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.

Oefner utilized an inflatable camera with an lens to take individual images, which were later combined into the final photo. The result is an image that is out of this world. It captures both the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyperrealistic image of a car rising away from the Earth. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned off in the near future, but there is no exact date or time yet.

The auction
