Shark 2 in 1 Robot Vacuum and Mop Review

If you're looking for a clever cleaning solution that can make easy work of chores at home, this robot is worth a look. However its battery life and charging time aren't the best.

User-Friendliness

The Shark IQ Robot is very easy to use. It has an intuitive interface. It has two control buttons at the top of the unit that can be used to start or stop a cleaning session or to transfer it back to the dock. However, it's more convenient to use voice commands in conjunction with the app. The app allows you to create a schedule and choose a room. You can also select whether to clean carpets or floors, as well as virtual no-go areas. It also provides a helpful status indicator, with two blue lights which indicate the device is at its maximum battery capacity or a low level of charge.

There's a specific Ultra Mop setting in the app that allows for cleaner stain removal in specific areas.

The Shark IQ is more expensive than the Xiaomi Mi robot, but it provides superior maneuverability, navigation, and cleaning capabilities on bare floors and low-pile carpet. It also has a larger dustbin, can last longer on a single charge and comes with physical boundary strips that can be used to keep it from certain areas.

Powerful Suction

This robot can clean your floors in one go. It is capable of picking up pet hair and other particles, though it doesn't perform very well on dense carpets. It is capable of making sure it covers its area and avoiding obstacles at low levels. It's louder than other robot vacuums, but that's normal for such a powerful machine.

It has a long battery life and can be controlled using the SharkClean app or via voice commands if you own an intelligent speaker such as Alexa or Google Assistant. The app allows you to check the robot's battery remaining, choose different cleaning modes, and schedule a time for your home to be cleaned. You can also design virtual boundaries to prevent it from entering rooms where it might get stuck or knock over the fragile object.

The Shark AI Robot has a solid structure and is simple to install straight from the box. Its body is a mixture of glossy and matte-finish hard plastic, and has wheels and bumpers made of rubber. Its oblong shape allows it to accommodate its tank of water and its tall LIDAR mapping sensor. It does not require significant assembly, except for snapping the side brushes into place. It is easier to assemble compared to other models which require more parts and work. It weighs almost 18 pounds.

Smart Navigation

The Shark AI Ultra 2-in-1 offers a wide range of automated features. It also comes with a companion application that allows you to see the status of the mop and vacuum and receive push notifications, stop or resume cleaning, or control it using voice commands if you are using Amazon Alexa or Google Home. You can also program the robot to return to its dock or change its power mode.

When you first launch it the app will prompt you to send the robot on a preliminarily run, during which it will sketch out your space and draw an outline of your floor. This lets you label rooms, set up high-traffic areas and zones that are not allowed to be used and draw virtual boundaries that the robot should not over. The app allows you to schedule cleaning sessions, and also check the status of the robot or software updates.

The robot is very intelligent and can navigate its surroundings quite well, but it is prone to getting stuck on objects such as electrical cords or furniture. Before you start using the vacuum or mop ensure that the floor is free of large particles.

In my tests during my testing, during my testing, the Shark cleaned bare floors and carpets with a remarkable effectiveness. Mopping also worked well. The vacuum and mop combo is also quite quiet at 50dB. This is roughly the volume of a refrigerator.

If you want to add the vacuum and mop functions to a robot cleaner that already has an external dust bin, consider the iRobot Roomba 694 (9/10, WIRED Recommends). The iRobot is more expensive than the Shark but it is more robust and is able to maneuver through obstacles better and has greater performance on bare and low-pile carpet, and has physical boundaries that can be placed in front of areas you do not want it to be able to.

It's true that robot vacuums and mop cleaners that do both are more expensive. Shark AI Ultra 2-in-1, which we reviewed, costs $699 / £559 / AU$1,054 when you purchase it with the bagless charging base. Even without the base, it costs $649, PS449 or AU$681.

The Shark RV2310AE Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum: Precision Mapping Pet Hair AI Ultra is a excellent robot vacuum and mop. It is great at getting rid of pet hair off floors that are not clean and can clean the room several times before it needs to charge. It also comes with two mopping pads which can be washed between uses.

Its navigation system isn't perfect, especially when navigating around furniture or other obstacles. This means that it could leave a few dirty spots behind. The robot vacuum and mop do a great job cleaning these areas using the Eco mode, which is designed for low power consumption.

The battery life was also excellent in our tests, lasting up to 90 minutes. You can use the app to set it up to clean by room or at the time of your choice which is useful if you need to leave your home for lengthy periods of time.
