Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers love their key fob's handy remote that comes with features. By using a smartphone application, they can lock and unlock the car and start the engine and even locate it.

Place the fob's face up on a clean surface. Locate the button that releases it, place an object between the fob and the cover and pull it up slowly.

Unlocking the Doors

Volvo's remote keyfobs can unlock your vehicle's doors, tailgate and fuel filler flap at the push of one button. They can also switch on the ignition, activate the alarm, and even operate your sunroof if equipped. It's no longer necessary to search for your keys, or get locked out of your vehicle.

You may not be aware of some key fob functions that are hidden. You can utilize the lock/unlock option manually if your key fob battery is not working.

Keep your key fob in place with the Volvo logo facing up to unlock or lock the manual lock. Find the black button on the edge of your key fob and gently press it. This will open a cover that is a cover for the key blade that is manual. The cover can be turned counterclockwise with a flathead or coin.

Beginning the Engine

Close the Windows

Volvo key fobs feature an in-built feature that lets users to instantly lower all the windows. This is a fantastic feature to have when trying to squeeze into a cramped parking space, or just when you need some fresh air in the cabin while driving.

Press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower all the windows, and the sunroof in case your car has one. Then, when you're done with the car, you can close everything by pressing the lock button a second time for four seconds.

You can also use your key fob to turn on your car's panic alarm. This will emit an intense, attention-grabbing roar that could frighten away thieves and allow you to return home safe after a long night out. This feature can be very useful if you are living in a neighborhood that is prone to crime or wish to safeguard your family while they are away.

Opening the Tailgate

Volvo's key fob is stuffed with useful features. They are ideal when you have your hands full with shopping or helping your kids pack their sports equipment after practice.

If you have the Hands Free Liftgate with Logo Projection and Programmable Height (if equipped), then you can open it by using the key fob. It is possible to open the liftgate by pressing the button and then close it with the same button.

Turning off the Alarm

Set out your key fobs along with batteries and any other keys on a clean surface. Find the small black button in the lower left corner of the key fob and move it to the right. The cover should come loose and fall off leaving the key's mechanical blade beneath it.

You can open all doors and the reargate by pressing the unlock button on the fob's keypad twice. By pressing the lock button for two seconds, you will be able to close the windows and sunroof when they're fitted. Reconnect the battery, and the alarm should cease. If it does not, the owner's instructions should include a reset option.
